GET TO KNOW EACH BORDER TYPE

Merrowed Border

- A Merrowed border is a 3mm border which is sewed up and over the exterior edges of your patch
- Merrowed Borders can only be used for certain shapes: rectangle, square, triangle, circles and basic shields.
- The Merrowed border is the most popular option
- No extra cost
- 3mm thick
- The Merrowed border is also known as ‘overlocked’.
- Not recommended for Iron-On backing. The Iron-On adhesive does not cover the border and therefore leaves a 3mm lip that can catch. Why not check out our blog page dedicated to learning how to iron on a patch?
- The Merrowed border can be any colour from our thread charts - embroidery thread chart, woven thread chart

- The border is added after the main patch is complete and then cut to shape with a hot knife.
- This heat cut satin border is an extra cost for Printed & Woven Patches.
- We use embroidery thread for Heat Cut Satin borders.
- The heat cut satin border can be used for almost any shape.
- The best border option for Iron-On backing.

Laser Cut Border

- Laser Cut border is essentially a borderless option.
- The laser seals the edges so the patch won’t fray.
- The laser cut border is no extra cost.
- No restrictions on shape, even hole cuts are an option.
- The laser cut border is still an option for a traditional border, we suggest 3mm for best results for Woven or Printed patches.
- The finished product is thin and a great option for sports/work wear.
- Great for applique application.
- This laser cut border option is suitable for all backing types, especially Iron-On or Stick-On
